THE HISTORY OF BUTTONS
The earliest known buttons date back thousands of years and were found in archaeological excavations in places like Mohenjo-Daro, an ancient city in the Indus Valley. These buttons were rudimentary and were typically made from shells, bone, or stone. They were used for decorating clothing and also for fastening it.
During the Middle Ages, buttons became ornamental and functional elements in clothing. They were handmade and crafted from materials such as wood, metal, ivory, and leather.
The manufacturing of buttons underwent a drastic change with the Industrial Revolution, as they began to be mass-produced using machines, making them more affordable and accessible to the general population.
And now that you know a bit about their history, let's see how some people unbutton them.
