Additionally, in periods when food was a luxury, a full figure reflected wealth and social status, as only the privileged could afford an abundant diet. In the 1950s and 60s, icons like Marilyn Monroe brought curves back to the forefront of popular culture.

Beauty has always been shaped by the values and priorities of each era, and voluptuous bodies have often been the embodiment of what was most desired and admired.
