Lau identifies as a princess. Not just any princess, but a little French princess, with all that entails—elegance, delicacy, and an air of sophistication straight out of a fairy tale. And hey, if she says so, who are we to argue? Nowadays, everyone is free to identify as whatever they want. That’s just the world we live in, where identity is no longer set in stone, and labels are as flexible as the will of those who wear them.

But this absolute freedom raises an interesting question: are we more permissive than ever, or are we losing our minds? Because not too long ago, claiming to be something that didn’t fit traditional molds would earn you strange looks—if not outright mockery or criticism. Today, however, it seems like we live in a time where anything goes, where anyone can shape their identity however they please and expect everyone else to accept it without question.

For some, this is a sign of progress—a society that’s more open and less constrained by outdated norms. For others, it’s proof that we’ve lost the plot, that we’ve taken freedom too far and crossed the line between tolerance and pure fantasy.
And I wonder: are we evolving into a more inclusive society, or have we spiraled into a world of relativism where anything can be valid just because someone says so?

One way or another, Lau is a princess. A little French princess. And if one day she decides to transition into an empress or a Greek goddess, I won’t be the one to argue.

THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF JAMES FELIX

James Felix started out drawing live figures with charcoal on canvas paper. Over time, he began photographing models in various poses to use as references for his drawings—at that point, photography wasn’t his focus, just a way to capture unique postures. But gradually, he started noticing something in his photos that inspired him even more than drawing. From there, it became a journey of trial and error as he taught himself the techniques that now define his photographic work.

Today, James Felix is a fashion, editorial, portrait, and beauty photographer based in Arizona.

No matter which way you look, there will always be someone dictating what’s right and what’s wrong, what is freedom and what is submission, what is empowerment and what is degradation.

If you show it, you’re objectifying yourself. If you hide it, you’re repressed. If you enjoy it, you’re promiscuous. If you sell it, you’re being exploited. But if you give it away, you’ll still be judged. And while some say sex should be free and without constraints, others warn that being too free means falling into the patriarchy’s trap, that you must protect yourself from yourself, that there’s a point where your freedom stops being freedom and becomes a problem.

The truth is that sex shapes itself depending on the perspective from which it’s viewed. For some, showcasing it and monetizing it through social media is simply making use of one’s own resources—an act of autonomy. For others, it’s humiliation, a surrender of dignity. It all depends on who’s looking, what prejudices they hold, and what values they’ve inherited.

But in the end, the contradiction is clear: the world consumes sex in industrial quantities. It watches it, seeks it out, buys it. And yet, it continues to judge those who provide it. Hypocrisy? Double standards? Perhaps just a society that still hasn’t learned to live with its own nature.

Fairyjulia knows exactly where she stands. She has no guilt, no second thoughts. She lives how she wants—and she’s living very well.
